In some cases this will permit the player to turn the tables on his pursuers, hunting them down and consuming them, while in others it might allow you to briefly speed up or hurl fireballs. It's enough to ensure that the pacing of any fight remains unpredictable, and a moment of seemingly certain doom can be turned into a victorious triumph at a moment's notice. While by no means the sort of intense strategy found in the likes of an RTS, the ability to reward players to think on the move and rapidly react to enemy maneuvers allows you to be hooked in for those glory moments.Even without all that, of course, there is also the score counter in that top corner. The one marking your every move, going up as you survive, succeed and endure to the next level, and listing your victories alongside others. It allows you to truly mark your progress, to gain that little shot of adrenaline as you exceed yourself for a new high score and to constantly strive to achieve first place on the high scores. As crude as it might be, there is no denying the addictive quality of such a system, or the sense of true accomplishment at the end of a great run.
